Jeremy Hartwood, the owner of the legendary Louisiana mansion Derceto, has committed suicide. His death appears suspicious yet seems to surprise no-one, for Derceto is widely reputed to be haunted by an evil power. The case is quickly dealt with by the police and soon forgotten by the public. The player assumes the role of a lone investigator who enters the house to learn more about the incident. Soon after you enter Derceto, you are thrown into a nightmare that has been Jeremy's daily life. Hideous hidden monsters around the mansion, creepy catacombs down underneath, shadowy corridors foreshadow a great evil that fills the atmosphere and the very house itself. As either Carnby or Jeremy Hartwood's niece Emily, you must uncover the truth behind Hartwood's mysterious death and survive through the night by any means necessary.

Alone in the Dark II
Alone in the Dark 2 you take the role of Edward Carnby, one of the two main characters in the original Alone in the Dark. After his overnight ordeal in the haunted mansion of Derceto and his defeat of the undead Cthulian sorceror Pregzt, Carnby has gained something of a reputation as "the supernatural detective" (sounds a lot better than "the reptile", his original nick). Carnby is soon called upon to investigate a bootlegger named One Eyed Jack after an old detective college name Stryker attributes Jack to the kidnapping of young Grace Saunders. Stryker attempts to infiltrate Jack's dilapidated mansion of Hell's Kitchen and rescue the girl, only to disappear himself. That's where Carnby comes in. Carnby soon learns that Jack and his gansters are really 15th century pirates who gained immortality after Jack joined forces with Elizabeth Jarret, a Voodoo witch. However the dark magic which keeps them immortal also requires Jack and his crew to regularly make human sacrifices (which explains Grace's kidnapping). Carnby must battle his way through Hell's Kitchen and Jack's army of tommygun wielding gansters, searching for a way to break the spell and make them stay dead.

Alone in the Dark III
After Edward's success in his previous two investigations a journalist has nicknamed him the "Supernatural Private Eye." This time, he is called to investigate the disappearance of a film crew at a two-bit ghost town known by the name of Slaughter Gulch located in the Mojave Desert in California. Among the disappeared crew is the heroine of the story, Emily Hartwood. Edward soon discovers that a curse has gripped the town, and an evil cowboy from the Badlands named Jed Stone is the villain who is responsible for the crew's disappearance. Lurking around town are many trigger-happy sharpshooters, deranged prospectors, and bloodthirsty lost souls whom Edward must ward off with both his strength and his wit.

Jack in the Dark
You are Gracie. It's Halloween. You're dressed as a witch and you're lost in the Big City. You find a little toy store called, surprisingly, "The Little Toy Store". Upon entering, it appears that the shop is full of evil enchanted toys. Their master is One-Eyed Jack in the Box, and he's kidnapped Santa Claus. You know what you must do. You must defeat the evil toys and save Santa!
Jack in the Dark is a small game made during Alone in the Dark 2 production. It was used as a promotional game distributed at christmas 1993 (just before Alone in the Dark 2 release). The game was on a single floppy in a golden wraping featuring a Jack-in-the-box illustration on the top. Jack in the Dark is a pure adventure game that focuses purely on puzzles and has no combat.
